Sometimes i run into the problem where a File trigger becomes inactive (no longer checked in the checkbox)I do not know this happens until i get a call saying the trigger hasn't run. Is there anything within Visual Cron that can alert me when a trigger has become inactivated?

There is an existing request in Feature request forum regarding this. The request concerns that we add an Internal Trigger which can track these kind of events. When that is in place you can do what you want to notify you when this happens. Email, MSN or other.

We will probably add this in the beginning of next year as we are working on some other things right now.
