My IT department wishes to rename the servers that are currently hosting instances of VisualCron. Are there any caveats or issues known with doing this? Do I need to deactivate the licenses before the renaming and reactivate them afterwards?

You can rename locally without issues. But if you need want the My licenses page to reflect these changes you need to Deactivate and then Activate again.
