As the number of jobs, the number of servers these jobs run on, and the dependencies between those servers and their jobs increases, the need for central job managment and control gains importance.
The current job schedule calendar tool lacks some functionality in order to support this. It should be possible to
- display jobs from several connections(/servers)
- use several filters as job selection criteria, e.g. show or hide whole job groups
- put several tags on jobs to categorize them, and use these tags as selection criteria
- customize the field source of the displayed and printed labels
- select the print output range and time granularity independently from the display range
- print output that spans several pages
- show dependencies between jobs
- combine the printing of the calendar with a detail report
- ...
There exist already several feature requests around this need
A product like "Win Sentry" e.g. does integrate windows scheduler tasks into such a calendar view. A screenshot may show what I have in mind:
