That has crossed our minds a lot of times.

What is most important for us is that our product develops and get better for new and existing users. It is also important that you can quite easily count a ROI on money spent on VisualCron. That you can automate Tasks so repeating and manual work, which is error prone, are eliminated.

The question is how a light version will make the above better? And what is a light version and how does that differentiate from a "pro" version.

We know that a light version will probably a lot more support. We want to help our users but with a broader base of users, that does not pay for the product, we cannot scale the support. This will take away the focus from the core - which is providing the best automation tool for you.

i think with another way

extend number of users provide many advantages

- many bug reports and not many support (the free version distribute with no support)

- many popularity of software (in term of knowledge and in term of visibility of brand)

"And what is a light version and how does that differentiate from a "pro" version."

a simple subset

jpsoft use this method with Take Command (a powerful command processor)
