I would like to use a Copy File task to move files and copy the folder structure to another location (archiving). However, I have a few folders that we need to leave untouched. I can't find any way to exclude these folders from the task. I can exclude files, but not folders. I searched the forum and found a few similar requests from several years ago, but was not able to find out if this was ever implemented. Please let me know if there is a way to do this.
Thanks,

Hi we are also seeing similar issues and would welcome this functionality.
We intend to use this to copy users profiles to new pc's (basically copying folders/files using the "include sub folders" option).
The problem we have is that if the users profile to be copied has shortcut links (e.g. My Music, My Documents etc) the task fails as "access denied". This is a windows issue but if VC could exclude certain/given folders (as per the original post) or have an option to exclude shortcuts, that would work really well.
Thanks

No way to do this now but might not be to hard to implement. I am moving this topic to Feature requests.

When we implement this you need to specify the full path to thefolder and separate each full path with a semicolon, for example:

c:\basefolder\excludefolder1;c:\basefolder\excludefolder2

Does this solution sound ok?

As long as the "exclude folder" field can handle a lot of text and/or will count shortcuts as folders? e.g. c:\users\<username>\My Documents(shortcut) will be ignored?
This should work ok in that case.

Anything would work, however, could the paths be line separated? This would just make things easier to read/verify/modify. If line space is an issue, maybe reference a txt or csv config file? Just some thoughts.
