We will try to create a video soon describing the changes but in short;

1. Notifications are now upgraded to Task Notifications - you can now use any Task as Notification. If you have an email Notification you need to upgrade it manually to use a Connection
2. On error control have been enhanced to raise error based on content or other value
3. custom exit codes collections can be created for a Task
4. Flow - this controls what happens on an event like Started, completed, Success. This has been moved from On error tab and the Notifications tab is now merged into this

Any word on Hyper-V Tasks - Still using features not <necessarilly> available depending on Server OS / Powershell Version ?

Couple of Minor Installation Items and Result Questions

1) On Installation I Did get errors raised on the VC Tray Client (see screen prints). I made sure this was exited and checked task manager but it still complained (about a PID that at that point no longer existed). 'Try Again' button did not detect PID was gone and still reported it as a blocker. Not an issue though, you can just continue on and all is well.

2) <Trivial> Desktop Shortcuts aren't being tidied up (Say VisualCron 6)

3) <Trivial> perhaps a heads up that your Job History is Reset on Upgrade ? - Is this a Protocol change thing or usual behaviour ?

3) Client Results Columns

Seeing some interesting behaviour on the Results being reported by the Client (see screen prints) at the Job and Task Level. As shown, I think the jobs, and the task logs are showing run to success, but 'Result' is Running at the task level and 'Not Found' at the Job Level

4) I am very much appreciating the Not Run Yet / 'Spanner' result image as a visual cue for testing after upgrade until the job / task has been run <hopefully to success>.

5) <Future> This is unchanged from 6.2.2 but VCTray Double Click - Starts New (Second, Third) Client - Expected behaviour ? - Leads to Memory / Resource Issues with Multiple Clients running - Could this just redisplay/ bring to front existing client window if already running / minimised ?

6) <Future> Any possibility in terms of transition / easing deployment for users of either supporting the immediate prior client protocol when changed (in the new client of course . . . . ) or allowing us to run 2 VC clients on a PC (separate install) ? This is also an issue when you change .net versions in VC <as we did in 6.1.7>

We would ideally like to be able to stagger server and client deployment <as we can/do when the protocols don't change>.

2. If I add a flow item, but I cancel the addition, it is still adding it to the list.
   
3. I had on errors with 'retry x times' in version 6, now I have on error 'stop job' in the flow controls;
   
4. By using the Next and Previous buttons in a task, the flow tab is not refreshed;
   
5. I like an addition in the job flow condition dropdown with the word 'and'. So the dropdown has: Always / And if other value / And if exit code;
   
6. If I clone a flow at job level and I'm not saving the job, it is still added to the job. For task flow cloning and canceling it's ok;

This was found by 30 minutes playing with this version.
If I find some more, i'll add them to this post.

We could not reproduce this:

Please test with the new update to see if you still can reproduce this. By default we add "Stop Job" if no action exists.

This is a Windows Server 2008 R2 Server.
Machine was 6.22 and Now Upgraded to 7.0.0 Beta (27/5).
Installed Updated version of 7.0.0 Beta this morning (28/5) and reproduced status column inconsistencies.
Powershell 3.0
.Net KB Status per attached screen print.

Let me know if you need anything else.

I am using the Delete Old Log Files Job shipped as an example job with VisualCron.

Nothing in Flow.

If you aren't repoducing the issue . . . . it must be something more localised to here.

In User Groups...

There are two permissions named "Aufgaben"(German). The first one refers to the Job and the second one refers to the Task.

Maybe rename it: 1.Job (engl. Job)
2.Aufgabe (engl. Task)

Sorry - still getting issues with the download (see attached screenshot). I have downloaded a few times now, cleared my browser cache, tried different browsers (Firefox and Chrome) but still getting the conflict.

I am reluctant to uninstall my old version via add/remove programs in case it causes issues with the setup I have - last time I did this I lost a lot of my SQL statements!

Any ideas?

Same problem as osirisja. I uninstalled though and then the installation was fine. "Not Found" error gone indeed. Thanks. You should fix the installer though.

Thanks for the reports about installer. We will take a closer look at this. You can come around this by uninstalling first through Add/remove programs (that is what we do in the installer which apparently is not working for you).

I tried the new install and got the new message to uninstall the same version first.

I did so and then reran the installation.

I got right to the end of the progress bar and got an installation unsuccessful (service marked for deletion mentioned right at the end).

Locked files ? / service issue ?

Rebooted our test server and then reran the installation and it was successful this time.

N.b. We have noted this with other versions of VC. Sometimes a reboot is necessary to complete an installation successfully (which we try to avoid on Production servers of course, but we schedule maintenance windows for these updates to allow us to reboot if we need it).

We *usually* (I didn't this time - test server) switch the server off in VisualCron & stop the service first to remove running jobs, Active File Triggers, and remote client connections from the mix to try to avoid / minimise need for reboots - your recommendations for avoiding the need for reboots would be very welcome !

We have also tried doing the uninstall manually ourselves first as a matter of course, as you are now prompting for in the beta above.

If you still get install problems please copy the log from the PreInstaller window that shows up. It should contain an error why it cannot properly remove the old installation.

Also I've noticed that when an email arrives that is in !Contains% email trigger it re-processes the last email that was processed by the Contain% email trigger.

Please can you fix this bug as it creates duplicates.
