Conditions:

Client time 1:05pm
Server time 2:05pm

I ceated an interval trigger using Minutely interval and set start time into 2:10pm. When I hit OK to close out of the trigger screen time in Edit Job dialog flipped to 3:10pm. I went back and changed trigger time to 1:10pm, but it had no effect at all. I set trigger time to 3:10pm and that worked. Setting any time beyond Server Time + difference between Server and Client works fine, but when I try to set time within the aforementioned limits I encounter this issue.

This may not explain everything but the Client schedules in local time. So, if you set 2 in your time zone it will be 3 in the other time zone as it is one hour difference.

We will look at setting the time beyond as you describe.

Sure, I realize that and it works fine for any times further ahead in the future than local client time + 2 * difference between client and the server. But when you schedule a job that is supposed to run every 5 minutes typically you want it to start immediately which is where I ran into the issue, not being able to set the start time sooner than after 2 hours from my local time.

We plan to test this early next week when we have a new test environment for this.

Nevermind, got it from Beta Versions.

OK, this immediate issue appears to be fixed. I'm able to input server time without any limitations. What I noticed though, is that my Next Run time outside of Edit Time Trigger is set to some random value, which looks like an offset from my local time. On the screen shot I'm about to send you I'm setting start time into 1:45PM. My local time at the moment is 12:42PM, so on Edit Task Screen as well as on the Task List screen I I see 8:42PM as my Next run time.

Sorry, the fix is not working. The next run time is now getting set into time 7 hours ahead from what I enter.

I specify start time as 2:03PM and the job's not running and displaying Next Run time as 9:03pm. When I do the same on the server it works.

For all test cases that does not work please state the following so we can reproduce it easily:

  • Local time
  • Remote time
  • Time zone local time
  • Time zone remote time
  • Start time
  • Calculated next run in Trigger
  • Calculated next run in Job listing

  • Time zone remote time: EDT (GMT-4)

  • Calculated next run in Job listing: May 6 2012 12:30PM

Notice how now it pushed the next run time on the listing into the next day.

I used Daily interval.

We really tried to reproduce this but we couldn't. Not sure if there are more variables in this like date etc.

I am attaching a small video of our setup. It is an exe which is a standalone player with the video so you don't have to install anything to play it.

Let me get version 6.1.2, thought it doesn't seem to address this specific issue, but just so that we're on the same page.

I got the latest version, checked and the issue was still there. In the clip you sent me you do show how client in set up in Eastern US time zone, but no setup for the server. In our office client is actually in Central time zone and the server is on Eastern time. Do you use tools like WebEx or similar so we can get online and I can demonstrate the issue. Let me ask around here and see if I can set up a WebEx call.

OK, I've found out what our firm uses for video conferences. Please let me know when you're available -- I'd like to set one up.

Works great! One minor detail -- the status bar on Edit Job and Add/Edit time screens still displays the incorrect date until you actually change the date/time of the timer. I'm attaching an image that demonstrates the issue. Once you've thouched the time it will fix itself.

The reason for this is natural. Remember that your remote server is one hour ahead and that the time of the clock is more than :55 - for that reason it has jumped to the next day.

I don't see the relation -- it jumps from 11:55AM to 12:55PM on the next day. This is midday, not midnight. I would expect to see 12:55PM there, but on the same day, which is 11/7. Currently it displays the next run time that is 25 hours ahead.

You have scheduled it to run 12:55 each day.

Currently local time is 11:56 and time at server I am guessing 12:56. As current time on server is past todays 11:55 it is showing tomorrows day.

OK, I'm with you now. I didn't look at it from the prospective that once I opened the Edit timer dialog box my current time immediately expires and the times pushes it over to the next day based on the daily schedule. Thanks for poining that out! It actually does the same thing when I run the client on the server itself.

I am glad it works now - thanks for getting back to us! I suggest you re-install 6.1.5 as we just pushed out a new version. I think that was the final fix for 6.1.5 for tomorrows release.
