I have some batch files that need to run nightly on a Windows Server 2008 R2 box. The scripts require administrative privileges which I can't seem to accomplish with the Windows task scheduler, so I downloaded VisualCron. Is there a way for me to run these in VisualCron with administrative privileges? I set the tasks to run under an administrative user but that wasn't good enough.

Thanks.

You just add the user in a new Credential and select it in the Execute Task. Then use option "With profile" in the Execute Task.

It looks like that worked except I'm having a new problem. The tasks run but they don't complete. The output of the batch files should be a couple of thousands lines but when I check the logs they're stopping at less than 40. They also don't run nearly long enough to complete. Below is a screenshot of the log, which is missing several thousand lines of output.

Any help with that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi mbpwdz,

If you double click on the output column in VisualCron, default you don't see the full log. In this output window there is a button on the top called: 'Get full output'.
This will show you the full log in this window.

Thanks.

Hi mbpwdz,

Yes it should be there. It might be that the version you are using doesn't have this option yet.
If so, you can go to the settings of VC. There is a setting that will limit the task output. You can change this setting.

Erik

Thanks for the replies. The version I'm running is 5.8.0 build 14921 which appears to be the latest. I did check the output log settings and this is what I have:

Output

As you can see the check box is grayed out so I can't disable the limit. It also won't let me raise the limit above 2000. Is this because I'm using the trial?

hi mbpwdz,

The button has to be on the task output window.
Can you enlarge the window more to the right?
If the button is still not there, Henrik (support) should have a look.

It's normal that the limit checkbox is grayed out. It will alway limit the output.

What you also can do is use a file write task or a notification on task complete to write the task output to a file which use of variables.
Than you get the full output.

The button has to be on your output window though...

Hi,

the Output settings is no longer valid because we now store full output of the last run.

The reason why you don't see that button is because when viewing historic output (older than last run) the column only allows us 2000 characters. We will probably make this optional in the future but as the database/historic logging was new we wanted to see any performance problems etc before doing any changes here.

Hmm.. okay..

mbpwdz is using the view by right clicking the task and than show log...
Now I understand, thnx.

I was pointing to the task output column in the main window.
