Hi. I have two features that I would like to be able to use on visual cron. I'll start by briefly decribing how my company, epyx, uses visual cron. On a given visual cron server we have jobs relating to multiple products. Users who have the client software are able to connect and run those jobs on demand. Some products are not relevant to some users.

The two features I have in mind relate to users. The first requirement is to be able to set up groups of permission which can be assigned to users and jobs. I might set up 2 groups for product a and product b. Then I could assign those groups to users/jobs in ways that allow a given user to be able to run either, both or none of the jobs for the two products. i.e. I only allow users to run jobs that are relevant to them.

The second feature is in addition to the first. I want to be able to hide jobs (or groups of jobs) from users based on the group permissions. I want my French office users to only be able to see and run jobs for French products, and the same for my UK users, and I want to separate the product teams from each other.

As far as I can find out I can't do either of those things in the current version.

Thanks in advance
John

Hi j.mason,

I think I can give you a solution for your first question, and you can do this within Visualcron:

Use a condtion to check the username logged in into the client.
The logged on user is: {USER(Name)} so you can check this on several names.
Set permissions so that thise users can't change the job/conditions and you're done.

The second question (hiding jobs) is indeed not possible at the moment.

Regards,
Erik
Uses Visualcron since 2006.

Thanks, this seems like it might help me. One thing though, when you click on a job you can elect to run with or without conditions, is there any way to remove the without conditions option?

Why do you want to do that?
