You have already provided me with 6.2.1. I have already installed it and emailed you server_startup.txt on Fri 3/22/2013 at 12:39 PM CST

This software was working perfectly fine before upgrading to 6.2.0. You will not be able to easily reproduce it. We have multiple servers running Server 2003 32bit, and upgraded all of them at the same time. This is the only server that is broken.

Could you try the following.

1. stop the VisualCron service
2. download and overwrite the contents in the attached zip file in the VisualCron folder
3. start the service again
4. test the Task
File Attachment(s):
7z.zip (187kb) downloaded 74 time(s).

Also, here is a standalong test app which you can try. Extract the files and run the exe in. Let me know the output.

I followed the steps Henrik, these are the results.

Only SevenZipSharp.dll (August 17, 2011, 0.64.3890.29348) was in "C:\Program Files\VisualCron". The other 2 files were not in the directory. I added all 3 to the aforementioned directory.

Once I replaced the files, the service will start, then stop.

It seems like there is some general problem on the server. Hard to say what. In the tests we used the official test application from the developer of this 7z component that we use for compressing files. This failed as well so it might suggest that it is not related to a specific VisualCron version but something else. I don't know if it is possible for you to go back and test the older version again?

Another thing is that from version 6.1.7 of VisualCron we are using .NET 4.0 so it might be something related to that if your previous version is older than that.

I do not have any archived versions prior to VisualCron6.1.7. We upgraded from 6.1.9 to 6.2.0. We are probably going to have to restore the server this weekend if we are unable to find a solution.

But you do not know which version you ran (and worked before)?

We don't think it ever worked on this server. We had no record of anything but 0 byte files. We just didn't know it wasn't working, because until Version 6.2.0, VC did not throw an error, just silently created a 0 byte ZIP file.

Yes, this is a strange issue. Not sure why. We have not yet been able to reproduce it on any of our servers yet.

Does the new versions address the issue with exporting settings? I am having that problem also and I don't see it mentioned in the change log.

If you still have problems with this then please let us know and we will look at this. I *think* this is fixed - but we could never reproduce this ourselves.
