Maybe I haven't noticed this before but I was curious to know if anyone else has had this happen to them in VisualCron?

Whenever I have the list of jobs/tasks up, if I try to scroll down to the bottom or mid-level of my list, the program will take me back up to the top of the list. I've also tried to use the [List>ExpandAll] menu item to ensure that the job Im looking at doesn't require scrolling. However, what seems to happen is that the list expands itself and bumps me back to the top.

Which, then makes me have to scroll back down to the job I was trying to get to again. It's an consistent/intermittent issue 😛, meaning it will happen pretty much within a short time I try to get to the job I want but I can't pinpoint exactly why its occurring.

Anyway, before I really start to dig into my issue I'm wondering if I'm just missing something obvious?

Thanks.

***UPDATED***

Changed title to 5.8.0 as we have upgraded. Still issue.

How do you scroll exactly? Does it matter if you use scrollwheel, buttons or scrollbar?

I've done both scroll wheel and by clicking the scroll bar with mouse and dragging down.

Ill keep an eye on it and report back if I can pinpoint it.

When I open a task for modification and then save/cancel back to the list it says...

"You must first select a task!"

...from time to time.

I suspect that the thing that is jumping my view to the top of the page is also attempting to jump my view while I have a task open for editing. Then displays the error once I do close the window and head back to the list.

Hi paulnus,

Just a thought: could you try this with a different mouse? It could be that your mouse is dying and messes up the scrolling.

Regards,
Erik
Uses Visualcron since 2006.

Is it possible that you could record (screen) the problem so we can see it in action?

Is this OK to see?

http://video.paulnus.com...or/visualcron_error.html

The first bit shows the list skipping up to the top.

From about 20sec to 50sec i am waiting for it to jump while i have the menu open. Then at around 50sec it jumps and I then try to open the log which produces the other error.

It was a bit hard to see. But maybe you have some special sorting. Sorting can be set on both Job and Task level. Whenever Job or Task is updated the list is sorted. And if you are, for example, sorting on column that differ much then items may jump around, for example, if you sort on last run time the last run row will always move to bottom or top.

Man. This is still happening and its driving me a bit batty. 🤬

Here is another video clip where I am literally doing nothing and the list expands by itself. I believe this to be the same issue as if I already had the list expanded and it moves me back up to the top.

I do have a sort on by the name of the job. That shouldn't change the order right?

Can you see this ok? See anything unusual or silly that Im doing?

Around the 22sec mark is where i just sit my cursor and no clicking or scrolling is happening.

We see it and it is indeed strange. There are only two events when we expand (from code):

1. we expand the whole Server node when we connect
2. we expand nodes when changing the Task filter in Tools menu

Other than that, expansion/collapse is only initiated from user side (click event). It makes no sense and we have never seen this before.

I am not sure how to proceed with this. Sounds like a ghost in your computer 😲

Does this happen on other computers in your network?

How often does this happen?
