Thanks for the link. What do you do in the client when this happens?

Not much...

The error is now standing on top of my job logs :
error

It looks like some of my old .bat jobs which were running fine have stopped working as well. This seems to be an issue with the PATH of the machine not being picked by VisualCron (when using the full path in my task then it works)

Could this be because I haven't rebooted the machine after having installed framework .net 3.5 on the box (as required by VisualCron)

Thanks

Maybe we are looking at different errors. I was looking at the top error which is generated in the client.

The other error is regarding a file path that is wrong.

Are you using a Credential (is this a network path)?

Ignore the file path error, I am only talking about the one which starts with "Error in getComputerTables"

yes we do use a network drive for most of our jobs

So, which error should we look at- the GetComputers error?

Ok, this error is not serious at all. It tries to get all computer names and ips that you have used in previous settings. This is a client only error.

It is related to permissions verification. But, the important information is need is which window you are trying to open when you get this. And how you reach that window. Through a menu (which?).

Ok I got this error when clicking on Job Logs on top of my client. If it's not "serious" then it's fine.
Am now trying to fix the issue with my old batches. They launch a .exe which loads some dll on a shared drive
When I start it manually in a dos window it works but not from VisualCron

1. Are you using a Credential in those Jobs?
2. perhaps the service was running as another user before?

1. Yes

2. No, I haven't touched that.

My guess is that following the .net 3.5 install a reboot of the machine is required... I'll let you know

Any idea about why when I try to map a drive I got the following error message :
Could not map drive, error (4): The local device name is already in use

That could be the source of many of my problems.

This drive was mapped in my previous version. I tried to unmap it with the new version (got a message saying it wasn't actually mapped) and now I can't remap it (always using the same credentials)

Thanks

Do you know when you are able to restart the server?

We don't know how you got into the current state.

Yes I will be allowed tonight

I got in this state by starting the 5.7.2 installer which then told me that Framework .net 3.5 was needed, I clicked on the link proposed to installed it.
At the end of the installation of the Fwk it asked me whether I wanted to reboot, I said no.

Then I restarted the 5.7.2 installer from scratch.
And here I am!

I understand. Do you get the same network drive error if you restart the VisualCron service?

Yes I tried that as well

But you know what : I can't even unmap my drives in windows either ("The network connection could not be found")... so I am not surprised that VisualCron has some issues doing it!!

Ok have done the reboot. Didn't fix my startup issue of some of my applications which use .net framework (v2) and are installed on a shared drive (probably security issues)
So I have just downgraded to 5.6.9 and it's working ok.

Could there be an issue with 5.7.2 to start some .net applications when they are on a shared drive?
When I run exactly the same task in 5.6.9 and in a windows scheduled task then my application loads its dll happily, so it's really linked to 5.7.2...

What if you check uncheck "Store standard output" and "Store standard error" (main settings of Task). Does it make any difference?
