We have a new environment that is running Windows 2008 Server (64-bit). The VisualCron server (on this new machine) has approx 140 file trigger jobs. These jobs monitor various folders on 3 different servers. At random times (random jobs) get triggered more than once for the same file. When this happens I get a failure email and go investigate. Each time it turns out that more than one instance of the script was kicked off. The failures happen because the first script runs to completion (correctly and removes the triggered file).

1. are you monitoring the same folder in more than folder?
2. do you have option "File name" and "Created" or anything else?
3. Are you using the "Put Job in queue" in main settings of the Job?

1) each job monitors a folder and specific file pattern. There are multiple jobs that monitor a single folder, but for different file patterns.

2) those are the only 2 flags turned on

3) no. each file that is uploaded triggers the job to run and passes in the file name to be processed by the script.

This randomness happens on jobs that have multiple jobs monitoring the same folder (with different file patterns) and on a single job monitoring a folder (that no other jobs monitor) with a file pattern.

I know that I could create a single job with multiple file triggers (for different patterns), but how could I tied those patterns into running different tasks (and would that help resolve this problem)?

This morning I had 24 failures (false positives) because of this issue. We are shutting down this new environment and moving back to the old one until this can be resolved. This is a huge issue for us as we have a client that must be in the new environment within the next 2 weeks. Let me know if I need to email the server logs to you for review.

Thanks,
Kent

You should not have to do this.

Has there been any update on this? Our last communication was via pm on 12/07 when I sent more information and part of the log file. As stated in the email, we have downgraded the machine to 5.6.2 and 99% of the problems have gone away. There is one remaining trigger issue, but I am currently researching the process that generates that file to see if that is the root cause.

Sorry for the late reply. I see that it is kicked off 3 times in the log, but different files. Please make sure that you have option "Put job in queue" in the main settings of this Job.

Forgot to reply back to your answer. You need to use "Put Job in queue" option on the Job. Otherwise you will experience a lot of problems.
