We are using VisualCron 4.9.4.0 (client) and 4.9.3.5 (server) and sometimes when we connect to the VisualCron server no jobs appear, however, there are more than 100 jobs on that server. Sometimes disconnecting and reconnecting several times will correct the issue and other times I have to remote desktop into the server to be able to see the jobs. Why is this issue occurring and what can we do to correct it?

Are you connecting locally or remotely when this happens (only remotely?)

Try editing the Server connection and disable/enable compression and see if that works better. Also, I recommend that you have 4.9.40 on both client and server.

I am having the same experience with version 5.3.6. Just started today. I can see all the other info such as credentials, connections, etc. Just no jobs.

I only see this behavior when connecting remotely. I was connected locally and remotely earlier today and the remote could not see any jobs, but the local could.

1. Is the progressbar 100% or not complete?

2. Did you try turning on/off compression?

The progress bar got to 100%.

I have turned off compression. I will keep an eye on it to see if that solves the problem.

Are you using the same version of the Server and Client version, if not, please try that.

I am having the same problem with the latest version of 4.9.

A full reboot worked at least once.

Trying again now, lost all jobs right after I got an error adding a job with an event log trigger. Not sure if that is it because I just upgraded my vcron yesterday. Not looking like a good move so far.

Thanks, Marty

Help. I had to reload from a backup.

Now I am getting the following error.

Connection failed to "localhost" Connection failed with error 'The channel 'VC' is already registered.' Do you want to try reconnecting?

If I say yes, it loads my jobs twice.

Thanks in advance,
Marty

The problem is that you are having multiple Server connections that are set to "Auto connect". Click on Manage Server Connections in main window (icon in the middle). Delete any double users.

That did it, I guess I was confused by the Manage Servers window. I must have hit add when I changed my settings expecting a save button.

Thanks, Marty

I cannot view the jobs that are set up but they are running. We did some system maintenance on the application server where VisualCron sits and now I cannot logon. The status bar at the bottom is only at 25%, I get the connection failed at localhost box and the Login failed for VisualCron Server. I have tried the service account set up for the jobs that are running as well as the default admin account. Problem with the admin account is I don't know what the password is. The person who set this up is no longer with the company.

I never had to login before so I am not sure what settings need to be. When I right click and select server info I get an unhandled exception. I click continue and it brings up the server info box but everything has an x by it. I tried entering in the registration number but it throws the same unhandled exception. Any suggestions on how to get in would be appreciated.

Thanks - Scott

Scott:

Please make sure that you are using the later version, on both Client and Server. Also, test connect locally and not remotely.

Henrik:

I am on the server trying to login, my administrator won't open the port to logon remotely. Is there a default admin account and if so what is the default password? I installed the latest version and am still unable to login.

Thanks for your help Henrik. Removeing the users.xml file from the settings folder worked and the jobs are now there.

Local I have two connections to two VC server. One functions. The other shows that connection functions but no jobs to be seen. Progressbar at connection goes til 35%.
I use 5.4.9 on client and server.

Does the local connection work (on the server)?

Does it work if you try to not auto connect to both servers but one of them?

Yes if I look directly on server I can see the jobs.

I don't know how to stop automatically connect to servers at start of VC Client.
So I disconnected both servers and manually connected the problem server first.
The same result.

Does it make any difference if you turn on and off compression on the remote connection?

When I deactivated the compression it works! Why? Why it functioned before with compression and now not?

Thanks.

We are not sure yet. We have not been able to reproduce this ourselves and have received one or two reports about this before.

It can probably be resolved by restarting the VisualCron service.

We will try to reproduce it here but currently we are not sure how. We will let you know more in this post when we have found something.
