I am trying to create a Remote Execute task in VC 4.9.40. I have entered the Host Name and the executable correctly. However, I receive an "invalid parameter", presumably in the Arguments section of task.

I have attached a screenshot of the Remote Execute task and arguments for reference.

Per the instructions of the software VC was packaged with (Nielsen's Direct Data Manager), the arguments should be as follows:

-T"[task name]" -S"[Remote Host Name]\[SQL Server Name]" -U"[Username]" -P"[Password]"

The Host Name is set as "\\[Remote Host Name]".

Is the argument set up correctly, or is the syntax incorrect?

It seems that you need a blank space between the parameters. For example, it looks like it should be:

-T "Task name". Not -T"Task name"

I tried adding a space between the switch and text, but the task still failed with an Invalid Parameter error.

According to the instructions you have - were you supposed to use the Remote execute Task.

Also, try removing slashes in the computer name in the second field. Just use the pure computer name.

Per the instructions of the application utilizing VC, we are supposed to use Remote Execute to run a task on a separate machine.

At this point, I am now receiving an "E_ACCESSDENIED" error. The account I'm using for credentials has windows authorization to log in and administrative privileges. Is there some form of windows security that would interfere with a remote call on the system?
