Hi - i am running an upgrade project for my firm's VC servers. We have 4 multi server environments all running v8.3.5. Some users require access to all environments.

During the upgrade to v9.8.0, as soon as I start to upgrade servers, the users will need to upgrade client also to access the upgraded server (no backward compatibility). Once they upgrade they will no longer be able to the access the other servers.

If i upgrade this way it squeezes the time I have to get users to test and sign off their jobs.

The users could go thru the inconvenience of upgrading client then downgrading after testing.

But i want to know if it is possible to run 2 different version clients on one desktop (I have not tested this yet).

Anyone done this - will it work? What is the process?

What is the recommended process to follow when upgrading? Users need to be able to test the new version on Pre-Prod while still using the current version on Prod? Also, the Prod Upgrade is more difficult if the clients all need to be upgraded at the same time.
