Is there any tutorial on kicking off jobs via cmd or with apis and checking the status of the jobs as well?

I searched and can't seem to find one

Look at the samples in the installation folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VisualCron\API\samples

As thomas suggested, you can find samples for API in that folder path.

As for running jobs via cmd: Open cmd, then go to your VisualCron installation folder, then go to the folder called "vccommand". Then you type vccommand and you'll see a list of examples on how to run jobs in cmd using vccommand
