webclient seems to have improved lots, however what I would like to do is have a "log in step", which can be copied from job to job. I can then play it so it gets to the correct place and then continue recording.

Generally, it is edited to become more responsive so that you can use it in any device. We still have to fix some resizing issue to better work. Mostly it is UI fixes but we will also start working on Job editing. It is an ongoing process but it changes from day to day.

Did you try to open it and save it and run again? If it still fails please export your macro Job and send to support@visualcron.com

(Was it really necessary to eschew backward-compatible connectivity?)

Unfortunately yes. We seldom do this but in this case we had to as the old encryption could not support new encryption. What has been changed is the way we encrypt local properties in settings-files. For example usernames and password. In 8.5.5 and older we use 3DES while in new version we use AES256.

To overcomes this problem you can zip the installation folder of 8.5.5 and unzip it on your desktop computer. Then create a short cut to the VisualCronClient.exe to your desktop.

Yes, it's not a strict requirement. A Dockerfile has access to the underlying filesystem. It's the DOcker image (that is used to start the container) that is in effect a jail and then would not "see" that underlying filesystem.

I guess, if you can give me permission to host VisualCron9.0.0 on my GitHub, I can probably try to put together a full set of instructions that would allow people to host multiple versions of VisualCron Client on the same machine using docker containers.
