I am attempting to upgrade from 7.0.5 to 8.5.4. We currently have 2 licenses:
License #1 only supports upgrading to 8.0.0
License #2 supports all the recent versions.
Both are site licenses
The server that i am attempting to upgrade is using License #1. I have attempted the following:
- Log into the VC client and deactive it via the UI. It does nothing (both version 7.0.5 and 7.5.0)
- I also attempted to deactive it via the VCCommand.exe "VCCommand --action deactivate --connectionmode local --username [xxx] --password [xxx]" and received this message: "Error when deactivating server: ActivationCodeInUse"(both version 7.0.5 and 7.5.0)
- I have also attempted to overwrite the old activation code (i was not sure if it would work, was going out on a limb) with the new using this command in VCCommand: VCCommand --action activate --r [License #2] --connectionmode local --username [xxx]--password [xxx] and if gave me this result: Server is already activated with activationcode: [License #1]
- I have also attempted installing the newer version 8.5.4 and it also does not allow me to get past the incorrect license code screen. It closes the application and disconnects me.
- I have attempted to install 8.0.0 and 7.8.8; however, with those versions I cannot connect the server. I was able to install 7.5.0 and can connect but I receive the same errors attempting to deactivate the license
- I have uninstalled the software and have deleted the contents in the Visualcron folder. Then reinstalled the version.
I am out of ideas and need technical support to help me get the old License #1 removed so that i can update it to license #2.
