I've found the On Error flow to retry a task, and the On Error flow to send an e-mail if there's a task failure, but can't work out how to do both.

If the task fails once I want to rerun it, but if it fails a second time I want to deactivate it and send an e-mail.

This combination is not possible. You can only send every time it fails. Not just the second time.

I can live with that. But it's a radio button set — if I select Wait for the retry, then Run Notification is deselected.

I've found you can have multiple On Error conditions, so guessing that's how you achieve it.

Yes, that could be a solution as long as they are not conflicting.
