I allready talked about this with Henrik, but I want to know what other people find of this gui change:

Ability to have jobs grouped and give this group a name. At this point I find it handy to have group for morning/evening/all day jobs or a group for critical jobs. Expanding the group shows all the jobs and you can open them normally as you do now.
With groups you have a better overview of all your jobs. Now it's hard to find your job if you have a lot of them.

We have a helpdesk and I would like to give them an acount so they can check if jobs fail. It is soo much easier for them if there are groups...

So what do you all think of this gui change? 🤔
Uses Visualcron since 2006.

I agree that it would greatly enhance the GUI of VC. Currently we 'group' jobs by a naming convention (qlk_,cog_ etc) and then filter on the prefix of the job(s). Collapsing jobs into groups would also provide a less cluttered interface. Lastly if user permissions could be incorporated into the group level it would go along way of providing a more tiered approached to security in VC.

This hasn't crossed my mind, but this is also a nice one! Hope they implement this.

I do not think it is necessary:
you can easily filter the jobs, if you stick to a good naming convention (servername tasktype ...) to single out your jobs.

have you tried that?

I disagree with you. Grouping jobs give a much better overview than all the jobs underneath eachother. That's why they inveted grouping 😉.
See it as directories. You don't copy all your files in the root.

I don't want to use the filter to hide / unhide my jobs. I might misstype in the filter and I can't see the jobs I'm looking for.
I've made some applications myself and I had a lot of requests of grouping items.

So I still think it is a great addition to have a grouping feature in Visualcon.

We have considered grouping and we know that some has requested that. This will probably be evaluated when we look at a multi-server connection grid.

Just to add one more vote - while we do use naming conventions, grouping would be extremely desirable.

Please test this version: http://www.visualcron.co...m.aspx?g=posts&t=740

You change the group in the main settings of the Job.
