Hi,
I haven't been able to determine the pattern for this problem. Some times when a job completes, the "Result" will show as "running" and the "Result image" is still an hour glass even though the job has completed successfully. All the other fields are displaying correctly. I see this behavior occurring (not always) when I am connected to the server and the client and server are physically loaded on the same PC. The jobs are relatively easy, meaning the jobs are a simple executable.

To properly refresh the client display to show the proper "Result" and "Result image" status, I "Disconnect" the client and reconnect.

We are currently gathering some information regarding this as it seems intermittent and more in some environments. Thanks for the report!

Hi,
If this bit of info helps. Currently all VisualCron v8.28 servers and clients installations reside on PCs running Windows 7 Enterprise with Service Pack 1 and all the Microsoft patches applied as of August 12, 2017. Microsoft .NET framework 4.61 is installed too and fully patched.

Hi,
As a work around for this bug, I enabled the Delay/Cache update setting. In Client settings, Grid, enabled Delay/Cache update. Took the default 3 seconds.

The Result and Result image columns appear to update properly with this setting enabled.

Hi,
Looks like the work around I'm using isn't quite working as planned. With the Delay/Cache setting enabled. The VisualCron client, the columns eventually "black out". Meaning the columns are replaced with a black screen. The Client stops responding completely. To recover, I have to kill the visualcronclient.exe with the task manager.

Hi,
I'm thinking of downgrading my version (i.e. uninstall version 8.28). The frequency of the problem for my environment is every couple of hours. Perhaps this is because of the number of jobs I am running (about a 1000 jobs spread over 9 PCs), ie the problem isn't intermittent. Have there been any reports of this problem with version 8.27?

Hello,
Is there any update for a fix for this problem? And any chance the fix will be incorporated into the 8.29 release?

This is already fixed in 8.2.9. If you want to test it out please go to: https://www.visualcron.c....aspx?g=posts&t=7498

It would be great if you could verify that it works for you.

Hi,
I'll ask my operations team to run some test with version 8.29. I'll leave my feedback after they complete their tests. Thank you.

Hi,
Unfortunately I have bad news to report. The problem persists. Job will show a status of Running with the Hourglass image even though the job has completed. visualcronBug.jpg

Also there is a new behavior, the screen (VisualCron client) will "black out" for a fraction of a second as if the screen is attempting to refresh. It doesn't happen all the time.

Sorry, forgot to state my test parameters.
8.29 client connecting locally to a 8.29 server
8.29 client connecting remotely to a 8.28 server

and

With a 8.29 client connecting locally to a 8.29 server, and also connecting to two 8.28 servers at the same time.

It appears, whenever the 8.29 client is used to connect to a 8.28 server, the problem exhibits itself. I say, it "appears" because I only have 5 test jobs on the a 8.29 server. The two 8.28 servers have a combined total of 225 jobs.

I'm hoping the answer is, the fix was at the server level and not at the client. Which would lend itself to why the 8.29 client connecting to a 8.28 server, the problem persists.

Sorry for the incomplete feedback (aka, multiple replies). I just got further feedback from my operations team. They see the problem when connecting with the 8.29 client to a 8.29 server. Problem is not resolved.

Could you record a video through video sharing tool Jing or similar and send the link to us?

Hi,
Please review the attached video file. The video was created with SnagIt. The original file extension was .mp4 I changed it to .mov in order to upload the file. The bug occurs at the 36 second mark in the video. The video shows 5 test jobs running on the 8.29 server. Client version is 8.29. Look at the job named "write a file II". I have the jobs triggered to run

ping test and ping test II every 15 seconds
write a file, write a file II and write a file III every 10 seconds

Yes, we have not been able to reproduce it in that version. Please test.
