1) Would it be possible to add the ability to select a specific application log when using EventLog notification.

I have created a VisualCron eventlog but can't use it without manually adding EventSources.

2) Using the above, the EventSouce can then the the job name ({JOB(Active,Name)})

Yes, that is a good suggestion. Our dilemma is that we want to work less with Notifications and instead create an Event log Task. The reason for this is that the usage for Notifications are currently limited. Also, by creating a new Task it would be a fresh start for the Event log where we can provide better options and features like in post: http://www.visualcron.co...m.aspx?g=posts&t=483 

Our goal is to find better ways to control flow of Tasks so that they are as easy to configure as Notifications.

Adding an event log Task is a good idea in it's own right, however Notifications have their place as well.

The potential problem with having an EventLog task is that you still have to control the logic of when to run the EventLog Task. In some of my jobs/tasks, I always output a notification regardless of success or failure.

What I especially like is that it is easy to create a generic notifiction and use it across all task/jobs regardless. It prevents the job being cluttered with tasks which I believe are very well handled at present within Notifications.

Yes, I agree. And maybe we will fix both Tasks and Notifications if it is easy to do.

We won't remove Notifications until we have something that works better and is more easy to use. Maybe, in the end, that will be some kind of new hybrid of Tasks and Notifications. The main goal is to be able to develop a Task and then be able to use it directly within Notifications so we don't have to work on both - as it is now.
