I have an Execute Task that runs a java -jar program. In Visual Cron, the task shows "Failed" but in the System Properties Full Output, I can see that everything ran as it should, and returned Error Code = 0 (which means success). Why is Visual Cron showing "Failed" when the task did not Fail? We do not want to get into the habit of ignoring Failed Result message.

Look at the real time log when you run it manually. You will probably see the error there. It might not "directly" be related to the exit code but something else, like a problem with a Credential that you use.
