We are finding that we often need to export a job, for example to test on a different version of Visual Cron or to move it to a different server.
At the moment to export a single job, you have to select the Export option and then untick everything and then find the job you want to export and export only that one.

It would be great if there was a 'save in XML' on the right click menu when you right click a job

I'd agree with this, also noting that if you're going to export a job and it's tasks/triggers/etc... that all dependancies are noted and subsequently also included in the export. Such as conditions, notifications, etc....

Maybe a deselect all button should save you some time?

That definitely wouldn't hurt 🙂 But as I said, it'd be nice to kinda see from an export view all the related items for a particular job, should you choose only one job to export. if I select it, i'd like to have maybe a tree structure below the job that shows dependencies and whether we want to bring those along with it (credentials, conditions, time exceptions, etc...) Not an easy task gui-wise, i'd think, but it would be ideal.

There is already a deselect no? You can click the top level checkbox.
Or did you mean deselect all across all settings?

I just mean a deselect for all settings (as all are selected by default).

That would be a good start, thanks

I sort of envision something like the OP said... to where you could right-click on 'any' object and select 'Export' and get a separte window MUCH like the 'Object Explorer' for object relationships. I photoshopped the attached image to show what i envision i'd see after right-clicking my 'FTP Task Test' job and selecting Export. I'd be presented with a sort of object explorer but the items/relationships shown below are ONLY those listed that have something to do with the job (or other object) you're trying to export. That way you can export the Job, the connection it requires, and the Condition it uses... for instance. That, and it'd be an AWESOME better way (in my opinion) to easily see everything tied to the job (or task, or condition, etc...) vs the reverse way you're doing it today of selecting an object and show where it's used... I'd rather select an object and see everything tied to it at once.

Is this even possible with the methods you currently use or is this a sort of major overhaul?

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking but I can appreciate it's not likely to be trivial to implement

Brian,

we do think it is a good idea but I suggest that you create a new feature request about this as it is very different from the one from OP. More complex as well. We have added the "Deselect all" in this version:
