Setting up jobs today and I thought it would be a good feature if we were able to set up Job Dependencies and Job Chains.

I know we have the FLOW feature to run jobs or tasks on the same server as a current job completes, starts or errors but thinking in reverse it would be good to set Jobs and tasks to run only if a 'Previous' job or task completed succesfully (a bit like the Trigger Dependencies) on any VC server. Of course we would need to reset the 'Previous' job\task in some way so it becomes valid for the next run\next day or whatever.

Job Chains would also be a nice feature where we could define a 'List' of jobs (or tasks) to run sequentially across different servers (with a master trigger), and we could link each job as a previous or next dependent job perhaps as an additional visual Container type, so we could have:
1. Groups, which contain;
2. Chains and/or;
3. Jobs, which contain;
4. Tasks

I think it takes the 'FLOW' functionality to another level?

You already have the VisualCron Trigger which can start a Job when another Job completes, you have the Flow, and then you have the Job/Task control Task that could start another Job. Not sure how and where more alternatives would fit in?

Andy, In some cases I collect jobs under one main job. This way I need to schedule only the main job. The main job purpose is trigger and flow other jobs, each containing several tasks. Quite simple and quick to implement, but it takes some time to think and setup alarms and logs.

I agree and understand all of those options are available however it is not easy to see any job dependencies or a job schedule visually, so I was suggesting a visual way to create a schedule of jobs with dependencies, perhaps by dragging job names onto a canvas and linking them together as dependencies - maybe this could be done by extending the 'Flow Chart' tool to either show job dependencies and 'Flow' or even to drage and drop jobs and building the 'flow' between them?
