Hello.

I'm evaluating Visualcron but i'm not able to workaround the following problem.

I'm trying to run a job with Service as Event trigger.

I' d like to run some commands if a specific Service changes its state.

I've created a new job and in the Trigger Tab i've choosen the Service trigger with the correct name (i've tried using the net stop/start command) and checking all the states for it.
I would aspect that every time the Service changes its state the associated tasks could run but nothing happens.
I can see the job and i can see it is active but next execution is set to "never" and the last execution date is always the date when i last run it manually. I' ve tried to stop/start the service manually but i can see any change and, above all, the associated task didn't run.

Do i miss something?

It is ok that the next run is "Never" because it is a Event Trigger, VisualCron cannot know when the next event occurs.

1. What does the log say when you try to add the Trigger?
2. Is the Trigger checked in the Triggers tab of the Job?
3. What does the log file say when the service state changes?

The Job's log just say "User "Visualcron Default Admin" - Updated job: [Job's name)". I just read this any change i try to make so i haven't a detailed log for this (or i don't know where to find a detailed log)

The Service trigger is checked.

The log doesn't say anything when the service change its state.

I'm doing something wrong for sure.... but i have no idea about it 🤦

What we can try, maybe tomorrow, is to do a screen sharing using Yuuguu (www.yuuguu.com) to see what is happening. Download that and add user support@visualcron.com

First of all, i really appreciate the help that Visualcron Support Team gave me about this problem.

After some tests there was an evidence that something in the WMI enviroment isn't working in the right way.

Unfortunately i coldn't test Visualcron in the final enviroment due an extra load of things to do in these days, and that's why i' m trying to solve the problem we experienced on the test pc where actually Visualcron is installed.

Microsoft WMI Diagnosis tool reported 2 kind of errors:

3 errors for "DCOM security for 'Microsoft WBEM UnSecured Apartment'" for which some Default trustee seems to be removed.

2 different warnigns regarding the "SystemRestore" instance: 1 WMI enumeration error and 1 WMI execquery error.

I' ve tried to solve them but i wasn't able to do that. The DCOM Errors, in particular, are quite enigmatic... i looked in the DCOM object configuration (DCOMCNFG.EXE), but there's no entry for "Microsoft WBEM UnSecured Apartment".... 😣

I' have to say that i found Microsoft statement that says Wmi Diagnosis tool isn't XP SP3 suitable so i'm not sure if these errors can be real or not; more, i 've forced to change the Diagnosis vbs script adding the italian name for some english default trustee (Network Service, for istance, in XP italian version is "Servizio di rete" and the script didn't work properly).

At this point i'm asking if someone could help me to understand how to solve these problems.... I know i will setup Visualcron on another system (where i hope no error will be present)... but now i'd like to know more about that... on principle, i should say.. 🤔

Thank you very much for the attention and i will report if errors will vanish when i will install Visualcron in the final Server.
