I know I've asked this one before, but it was a couple of years ago and I don't remember the answer.

We have VisualCron 5.7.8 installed on a server (Win2003 Server 32-bit). There is a local admin client installed there as well. My boss wants to let some members of IT staff have access to VisualCron when they are logged on to the server using Remote Desktop. So there will be several new users on this server. However, the first time that a new user attempts to access VisualCron from the tray icon, it launches the installer, and the installer inquires whether you want to install the client and server, or the client alone.

1. What happens if you choose to install both client and server in this scenario, where the server is already installed and is in fact running?
2. What happens if you choose to install client only?

Note: I know this is not the best way to have IT access VisualCron - I plan to give them the client and have them install it on their own local machines, and I will create separate VisualCron logins for them with appropriate permission restrictions, but in the meanwhile, the question remains, what happens when you run the installer on a server that is already running VisualCron server?

Thanks,

You can always install the package and choose "Client only" and you will not have any problems. This is the option to select if your staff want to access VisualCron remotely.

Thanks, Henrik. That's what I thought.

What happens if by mistake they leave the installer at default, which is to install both client and server? The server is running at the time.

Yes, but it won't make a big difference because you do not use that server on the client computer anyway. You can anytime disable the VC service and will act like client installation.
