We have found a bug in VisualCron with regards to task sequence numbers. If you manually change the task sequence by entering the new sequence for the task, VisualCron will apply the same sequence number to two tasks. Having two tasks with the same sequence number means VisualCron randomly decides which one of the two to run, it does not run both!

Could you specify in more detail how you reproduce this and which version you are using?

Do you enter it manually or do you click on up/down. Please explain exactly what you do to reproduce.

HI

We have reproduced the problem on both v5.6.9 and v6.0.6.

If you display the task order column in the main jobs view. Edit any job with more than 2 tasks, and then select the tasks tab which displays the task order, select any task and manually enter its task order. Click ok to complete the job edit.

The main jobs view will display duplicate task order values. Please note, that the display is a minor issue, our major issue is that the tasks are randomly selected for execution, until the user reedits the job and selects the task tab and confirms the edits. Please refer to the attached screen shot illustrating the duplicate sequence no

Thanks, but we cannot reproduce it. It must be something special you do.

Here is one test case from us:

1. We created 3 Tasks
2. We open the Job and go to Task listing
3. We select the middle Task (order 2) and go to the numeric editor and enter value 3
4. We click OK

We have no duplicate Tasks order now. Can you reproduce the above.

Hi Henrik

I have even stopped and restarted the Visual CRON service and the task order remains as per the screen image i attached previously.

I also struggled to reproduce the problem, however, i have found that if you leave the row cursor on the first line (default) and do not select a task in the task list, then when you change the task order manually, i was able to get the sequence number to duplicate and be rendered as such in the main jobs view.

Please refer to new screenshots as evidence.

I have also experienced this bug. I have to keep going back into the job to get the tasks renumbered correctly after I've moved them up using the manual entry.
If you use the up/down arrows to move the task around, the problem does not present itself.
This is one of the reasons I have suggested, in the past,to be given the ability to drag and drop a task in the slot we want it to run rather than using the renumber dialogue box inside the jobs.

All you have to do to recreate the problem is to edit a job with more than 3 tasks.
Highlight the last task and manually change the task number to '1', then get out and the last 2 tasks will be labeled '3'.
