Hi,

I found something in the .NET execution task. 😲

If I use a method where I need a variable, it is shown below in the screen.
I can give it a value I want and the task does it's thing. So far so good.

If I close and re-open te task and look at the value of the parameter, it's empty. So if I now close the task by clicking OK, the task behaves different while the parameters are empty.

I think this is a issue of filling the GUI screen with the values of the task when opening the task.

This should be fixed.

Regards,
Erik

Can you reproduce this with the default code? We could not. 😕

😊 ...

I think I made a mistake here. It's fixed in this version, but in the version I'm currently using it's an issue (6.0.4).

My fault.

Hi again,

I thought I really saw this in this beta so I did some more testing. 😛
I can reproduce it on this beta, so it's still an issue.

  1. Make a new job and add a .NET task and you use the sample SayMyName method with a parameter.
  2. Close the task / job window.
  3. Open the job (double click on it)
  4. Go to the Tasks tab
  5. Open the .NET task and go to the task settings
  6. The parameter is empty.

Hi,

There is another way of recreating this flaw:

Having a .NET task with a filled parameter, run it by right clicking on it in the main GUI and select run task. Open te .NET task and the paramater is empty.

I'll try the new version and let you know if it's solved.

Hi,

There is an issue with setting an user defined variable with the wrong data type.
Lets say you have an Int32 and you set a string value in there using the set variable task.

The task runs fine, but when you open the user defined variable in the variable window it gives this error:

System.InvalidOperationException: There is an error in XML document (1, 2). ---> System.InvalidOperationException: <string xmlns=''> was not expected.

Erik, how were you able to enter the string value in a user Variable as Int from the beginning?

Lets redo my steps here:

  1. I created an Int32 variable named 'test'
  2. I created a job
  3. I created a set variable task that sets 'test' to a string value 1
  4. I ran the job
  5. In the task output I see: Variable 'test' was updated to: 1
  6. I open up the variable window and select the 'test' variable
  7. I see in the value preview: Error in value
  8. I double click on this variable and I get the 1st error I listed.

The 2nd I can not recreate it at the moment.

Hi,

The 2nd variable error I got is doing it like this:

  1. using the 'string' variable 'test' again
  2. In the set variable task I put in '{MATH(Add|Integer|{USERVAR(test)}|1|#000)}' as value
  3. I checked the box translate to constant
  4. the variable set type is string
  5. running this task gives me an error: Unhandled error in RemoveVariable: There is an error in XML document (1, 1).
  6. Opening the variable window and selecting the 'test' variable shows me Error in value
  7. Double clicking on the 'test' variable gives me the 2nd error.

Hi Henrik

Just downloaded the fix but I'm still getting the Variable error/crash as Erik has reported.

1. Defined variable 'tmpfilecnt' as String
2. Added 'Set Variable' Task to update 'tmpfilecnt' to value '{MATH(Add|Integer|tmpfilecnt|1|#000)}'
3. Selected 'Translate to constant when running'
4. When task runs in job, get error 'Unhandled error in RemoveVariable: There is an error in XML document (1, 1).
'
5. Go to 'Variables' window. Select variable 'tmpfilecnt' and try to Edit the variable, results in VC Crash:

System.InvalidOperationException: There is an error in XML document (1, 1). ---> System.Xml.XmlException: Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.

osirisja,

we will test this and get back to you.

Erik and Osirisja,

I would like to ask for a big favour. We are currently testing a remote download site for VisualCron but we have some issues with the hosting provider. I would like to know if you experience the same download speed problem as described here:

http://forum.winhost.com/showthread.php?t=9556

If you do - I would be really happy if you could register an account there and reply with the results.

Thank you!

You are right Any,

It still gives the error.

😢 But you are doing it the wrong way of setting your variable.

It should be:

{MATH(Add|Integer|{USERVAR(tmpfilecnt)}|1|#000)}

Hi Erik

Ooops - well Spotted. yes, I created a new variable (removed the '@') and when changing the MATH function forgot to add it in! Just changed it and yes, you are correct, the error does still exist.
