First I've been using VC for about 2 years now - Love it!!

Over the course the last 2 weeks, I'm having trouble adding a job on one of my 2 VC servers. The servers are identical (they back up to each other). I can add a job to the other no issues, but when I go to add a new job on the first server (even through the console of the second server) the VisualCron client hangs up, and nothing happens.

I've been waiting for the 6.0.x release to upgrade and this may be the trigger event. I just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this, and if so how they resolved it?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

even though it may not be the solution it would help debugging a lot if you used the latest version. 5.1.6 is probably 2.5 years old now and the debug logging is quite limited in that version which gives us very little information what has really happened.

Henrik,

Thanks for the prompt response. For upgrading, is there a suggested procedure that you can point me to?

Thanks,

Please perform the following steps:

1. export your settings to another location than default location
2. check which user the VisualCron service account is running as
3. upgrade on top of the existing version
4. check which user the VisualCron service account is running as - if not the same as before you might want to change the user that runs VisualCron in the Services dialog
5. double check Tasks that have changed, for example Archive Tasks and Rename Tasks.
