Hi, All.

I have some questions about proxy server settings in VisualCron. As it is right now, there are a lot of places these can be set, and consequently, a lot of places that I have to go hunting to update them when the logon credentials change. So far, I have found the following (and I know there are more):

1. Each client settings has a section for proxy server settings. This is used for checking for updates. Is it used for anything else?
2. Each server settings has a section for proxy server settings. This is NOT used for checking for updates. What is it used for?
3. Each HTML job has a button for proxy server settings. This is used for the HTML job itself. If it is left blank, does it default to the settings for the server (see #2 above)?

I assume there are also proxy server settings options for FTP jobs and other types of jobs that might need to use a proxy.

Basically, my question is, assuming that I am going to use one set of network credentials for all proxy server connections (client and server), what is the best way to minimize the number of places that I have to enter it? I got locked out last night because of a different program being balky about accepting proxy server settings, and had to update my password yesterday -- now I have to remember all of the places where it is entered, or I'll end up locked out again today.

I do understand the need to be able to specify different proxy server settings for different situations, but I'm wondering if there is a hierarchy of defaults to make this easier.

Thanks,

Rebeccah

There is a reason for multiple instance of proxy settings:

1. the Client settings are used for update and activation (as Client can be on a different location than server)
2. the Server settings are generally used for Tasks
3. in some Tasks you can override the server settings
