Hi

We have been happily using VisualCron 5.6.2 in prod for several months now.

Yesterday at 6:47:35PM our visualcron server stopped working.
In the log files the last line we see is
3/23/2011 6:47:35 PM Debug Client: dd6b6f5c-d862-4195-b767-97634431e8bd (10.41.10.37) has disconnected

And then no more info until we restarted the visualcron service manually this morning. None of our jobs worked after 6:47PM although other stuff (not started by VisualCron) ran ok on the same box during the night.

We are going to upgrade tonight to 5.6.9 but in the meantime we would like to put in place some monitoring of our VisualCron server.
Any idea of what the best solution would be? As we have a site license I was thinking of installing a second instance of VisualCron on a different box and play with some copy/paste of files between the 2 instances but maybe there are better solutions?

Thanks
Sylvain

Hi,

could you tell us more detail. Were you able to connect to the Server with the Client?

Hi

No we weren't.
I can send you the log files if you need but they aren't much helpful

But my question was more about "which way would be the best to be alerted when visualcron is down"? I am going to build something but it's gonna look a bit "amateur"

I believe we have fixed one possible reason for deadlock for 5.6.9.

But, best way to check this is to use the API and just test connecting with it. Or you can check the file "lasttick.dat" in the settings folder - if it has not been updated in a while.
