Hi. I have a job which uses the kill task. This has worked fine until recently, but has now stopped working.
It is reporting stderr=Exception in task: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
exit code : 77777

I think it is relevant that this server was recently upgraded from windows server 2008 to windows server 2008 R2.

I cannot find any reference to this as a known issue, and would like to know if there id a known fix please.

Sorry, missed that. Can you attach a screenshot of your settings in that Task, the screenshot from the Kill Tab.

Hi, I have attached a document with several screenshots.
The purpose of this job is to publish a software update. It needs to kill any processes that would lock files on the target.

Thanks for the images. I think the Task works but report an error anyway. We tracked down that the error message is related to the settings "Extended debugging". Try turning that off in server settings. It has been fixed for the next version.

Thanks for the report.

Hi. I don't agree with your findings. I don't have extended logging turned on, and the kill fails. I know this because my deployment fails to overwrite a locked file, e.g. an eample from my deployment log:

26/11/2012 09:46:42 Access to the path 'e:\FTPProcess\1link-hn\Development\hn-queue\Business.Tools.dll' is denied.
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)

Thank you, yes it's working now.

Have you noticed the difference in output between kill and remote kill? Remote kill responds "1 process killed", but kill just returns an empty string.

As always you have been very responsive and helpful. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the feedback. Can you post a request how you want the output to look like in the forum Feature requests?
