Can you explain why it is that sometimes, using the Set Variable task, the variable value is updated to a fixed value?

See attached screen shots.

I assign the variable value as '{LOOP(CurrentValueXArray,1)}' to read the values from a file that I loop through, but when I edit the variable it shows a variable value of the last value that was translated?

This only happens occasionaly - mostly (I think) when there is an error in the job. It also doesn't matter whether I select 'Translate to Constant' or not.

I am using V7.05, but this has happened in previous versions too, so I am wondering whether it is something I am not quite understanding when variable tasks are defined?
