Would it be possible to allow variables to be built up when used with in a function, instead of wiping out the previously selected variable/function.

If I select a function, i.e. replace(....), and I then want to use another variable as part of that function, it would be really good if I could just click on the appropriate insert point and the replace function and then select the variable without it overwriting the original selection.

This allows a more complicated formula built up without over zealous use of cut/paste :-)
