Logging on to my visualcron server, I got a Visual Studio Just-In-Time debugger window stating:

An unhandled exception ('System.NullReferenceException') occurred in VisualCronService.exe [22404].

Any ideas what has caused this, and how to solve it?
Running 5.5.3

Please post the full error here from the event viewer.

1. Please tell us more about your operating system and if it is 64 or 32 bit.

2. Where have you installed VisualCron?

3. Have you installed all updates and services packs on this system?

Can you check if you have performed all updates on the system?

Where have you installed VisualCron?

Checking updates, there is the option of installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
VisualCron is running on this server (SJP10APP19vm)

You should install that update and try again. It may be a bug in the previous version. Also, you did not say where you have VisualCron installed?

I will arrange to get SP1 of .NET installed, but am not convinced this is the issue.
Incidentely, I only upgraded this machine to 5.5.3 from 5.4.9 yesterday!

Not sure what you mean by where VisualCron is installed? The client and server is installed on this machine, and there are clients on other machines.

I mean where in the file system it is installed. We have seen permissions issues where people have installed on network drives or limited folders etc.

I am not convinced either but we have never seen this error before and the problem itself happens so early. In the logs you sent you seem to have problems with both Client and Server so it seems more like a general problem.

It is installed on the D: drive of the server, so a local drive.
We had the service memory leaking last friday, and continue to have issues, even after installing SP1 of .NET.

I did turn on debug logging, so what do I look for, or should we set-up a screen sharing session, as this is now causing a number of production issues.
I am thinking about rolling back to 5.4.9, as 5.5.3 seems even more problematic than the previous version, which was fairly stable.

Please try rolling back. I am not sure the version is the problem but it would be interesting to see.

Hendrik,

Jobs ran better lastngith, and seem fine.
I do notice however that visualcronservice.exe is using 719mb and rising!!!
Looks like a memory leak to me.

Can you let me know what logs etc I should copy before ending this process, and restarting the service.

I will email you the screenshot

Hendrik, I think so. All has been fine thanks, since upgrading to 5.5.5.
When is the next version due, that will perform logging on source and dest?

Have a lot of things in my mind right now :) what exactly do you mean by "perform logging on source and dest"?
